What Can I Expect When I Go To A Day Spa?

It’s always nice to pamper yourself a little. You rely on your hair stylist to give you the perfect cut and color, and your nail technician to keep your nails looking beautiful, but why not treat your body from head to toe with a day spa?

“What can I expect when I go to a day spa?” you ask?

Well, let’s have a look right now at what you can expect so that you can decide whether it’s time to go for one, or whether one was long overdue! Your spa visit will include a facial, a vichi shower treatment or something similar, a massage, a manicure, a haircut and style. If that sounds like an very busy day with little time to relax, don’t worry, you’ll be jelly by the end of the day!

Let’s have a look at a day at the spa, step by step.

You arrive a few minutes early where a friendly receptionist escorts you into a change room where you’re greeted with a warm and fluffy rob and a pair of slippers too. You’re also handed a gown to wear to prepare you to have your facial.

You slip out of your clothes into your robe, and you are already beginning to relax. You are escorted to the spa where you are asked to fill out some questions about products you use, whether you smoke, if you are pregnant, and if you suffer from any medical conditions. When you’re done, the technician leads you to the facial room.

You lie on a massage table where the esthetician tucks you in under a soft blanket. Your facial begins. It’s soothing, and painless except for the removal of a few blackheads. Your skin will suddenly have a youthful glow when you’re done. Then it’s off to your vichi shower and massage. You find yourself in a room that’s dimly lit and comfortably warm. You are asked to lie on the massage table. Your masseuse will tell you that you can keep yourself as covered, as you want. You’ll be gently massaged from head to toe with a body scrub. You’ll feel invigorated. The overhead shower will gently rinse you off.

This treatment detoxifies the body and you’ll feel absolutely revitalized.

Wait, that wasn’t the actual massage, that’s now. A warm soft table awaits you. You’ll feel the warm body oil against your skin and those magical hands that know just how to make your muscles relax. You’ll think you are in heaven. You’ll find yourself massaged from top to bottom and of course, you can cover up as desired. You begin to drift off.

When you’re done, you are escorted back to the lounge for a cup of herbal tea.

When you’re ready you return to change room, get dressed, and next it’s off to get your hair done. The hair stylist will be asking what you want in your new haircut. After that, comes your manicure, and when that’s done, you’ll be gorgeous all over. Your day at the spa is done and you have been pampered from head to toe.

You’ve never felt more relaxed!

Now that’s time well spent!

Relaxation is great for you and your skin, so go for it and get gorgeous!

Should You Visit A Day Spa? Why?

When is the last time you took some time to enjoy a day spa? If you are like the rest of us, you fill up your day with other commitments and relaxing times like this have become a thing of the past. However, if you want to look and feel your very best then you must take some time for yourself. A day at the spa is the perfect way to get your mind and body back into the swing of things.

The cost of a day at the spa is much more affordable than many people think. Don’t let the price of it stop you from getting some well deserved pampering. You can compare prices at various day spas so that you can find something that will fit well into your budget. You will be able to save money if you buy a package deal instead of just one or two procedures that they offer.

Make the day at the spa something special for you and a girlfriend to enjoy on a regular basis. It will give you both more time to spend together and it will motivate you to continue carving out some time for yourself. Once you have been to the spa a few times you will have your favorite procedures that you look forward to. You may have a particular individual that you request to do them as well.

There are many options when it comes to these activities. It is a good idea to find out what is offered before you schedule an appointment. This way you won’t leave the day spa disappointed. You can look online to see what they have to offer or stop in to take a look around. Most establishments will be very happy to give you a guided tour of the facility

Most day spas require you to schedule an appointment in advance. This way they can limit the number of customers they have at any given time. They want to be able to provide personal attention to each person. If you can schedule your time during the week you will find the spa to be less crowded than on the weekends. You can also get a price break at many locations.

Once you have scheduled your appointment, make sure you mark that area out on your calendar. Unless it is an emergency, don’t fill up that block of time with any other activities. Scheduling time for yourself is just as important as any other commitment you make. You will find most have more openings during the week if you can get away. They may offer discounts that you won’t find on the weekends as well.

Not everyone is comfortable spending his or her money for a day at the spa initially. You can give them a gift for a special occasion or just because you want to do something nice for them. Give them a gift card to a day spa or take them along with you for the day. Most people will enjoy it so much that they will start going on a regular basis after the first time

Once you spent a day at the spa, you will be glad you did. In fact, most people realize at this point that some individual pampering is exactly what they needed. Sometimes we spend so much time on work and caring for our families that we forget about our own needs. You should enjoy every minute you spend there instead of feeling guilty for it. Chances are you have more than earned this time for yourself along the way.

Find and Enjoy Your Best Day Spa in Houston Texas

Don’t have time to go on a whole spa vacation? A day spa can give you a chance to relax and enjoy some treatments without packing your bags. Here are some ways to make sure you enjoy your time at the day spa.

1. Take care in choosing a day spa. Look for:

* Friendly, nurturing staff, from the person at the front desk to the massage therapists, estheticians, nail technicians, and make-up artists. All therapists should be licensed.

* A quiet, relaxing, well-designed environment. It will usually have soothing music, low lighting, and pleasant aromas.

* Equipment such as hydrotherapy tubs, whirlpool tubs, steam rooms, sauna, steam cabinets, Vichy shower, etc.

* A menu that explains the treatments and staff that can answer any questions in detail.

* A request for you to complete a medical disclosure questionnaire.

2. Select your spa treatments.

The basic spa treatments are massage, facial, body treatment, manicure and pedicure. A massage will help you relax and get rid of muscle tension. (A Swedish massage is a good place for beginners.) A facial is a deep cleansing of your face, and a body treatment exfoliates and soften the skin on your body. Most spas offers manicures and pedicures, but some small spas don’t. You can also combine services — a massage and a body treatment is a good combination (get the body treatment first) or a massage and a facial (get the massage first.)

3. Choose your therapist.

The quality of the therapist determines the quality of the treatment. Get a personal reference if you can. Also, think about whether you prefer a male or female therapist.

4. Prepare for your spa experience before you go.

* Drink plenty of water before and after services to enhance the benefits of your treatments.

* Don’t eat for at least an hour before or after your massage.

* Arrive early so you have time to enjoy the sauna, steam or whirlpool before your treatment. If you get in a whirlpool, shower to get rid of the chlorine before a massage.

* Allow your mind to calm down before your treatment. Most spas have a meditation room that lets you quiet down.

* Although most spas have lockers that lock, you might want to leave valuables at home.

5. Enjoy your spa experience.

* You generally remove your clothes for massage and body treatments, but you are draped with sheets or large towels. (Read more aboutnudity and the spa.)

* Relax. Take slow, deep breaths before your treatment begins. Envision every muscle in your body relaxing.

* Be open to the experience.

* Communicate with your therapist. If you have any feedback on the temperature or amount of pressure, let them know.

* You can talk or not, as you prefer. The therapist usually follows your lead.

6. Be appreciative.

* When the treatment is over, take time to slowly reintegrate, rather than rushing off.

* A tip of 15% is appropriate.

7. Extend the spa experience at home.

Take care of yourself at home. Most spas sell the products they use. Don’t feel pressured to buy, but it’s a good idea to get into a skin care routine at home.
